AhlulBayt News Agency: As India observes the 10th of Muharram—Ashura—with reverence and solemnity, cities and towns across the country are witnessing mourning processions and gatherings in remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S). Azadars (mourners) have taken to the streets to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala, with Majlis (mourning sessions) ongoing in Imambargahs and Azakhanas. Many are also fasting to mark this sacred day.
On this solemn occasion, leaders of India’s key opposition party, the Indian National Congress, issued heartfelt messages honoring Imam Hussain’s legacy. Through their official social media accounts, they emphasized the values of sacrifice, struggle, and peace embodied in Ashura, urging the public to walk the path of justice and humanity.
Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“On the day of Muharram, we must pledge to walk the path shown by Imam Hussain, a path of struggle, sacrifice, and devotion that leads to humanity, peace, and unity.”
